Art deco style photographs

These selected photographs are probably not art deco in the true dictionary-definition sense but they do capture that certain style of photograph popular in Life magazine and which came to eptimoise the art deco era. They are famed for their often stark simplicity, evocative of a certain atmosphere and usually staged quite specifically by the photographer. None would like out of place in Hercule Poirot's study!
